The Overglow Collection

Lindsey Adelman has always had a knack for finding the extraordinary in the everyday, and her new Overglow collection makes this clear. Drawing from 16th-century Venetian lampioni—the practical glass lanterns that kept canal walkers from taking unexpected dips—she has created something that feels both ancient and refreshingly modern.

What strikes me most about these pieces is their evident tension. Mouth-blown glass strains against bronze cages, creating forms that seem caught mid-breath. (The craftspeople literally overblow the glass, then let gravity work its magic, resulting in shapes that range in silhouette.)
This process isn’t about perfection—it seems to be about capturing that split second when structure gives way to the organic. Each fixture becomes a singular meditation on constraint and release.

As Adelman approaches her studio’s 20th anniversary, Overglow feels like the work of someone who’s mastered her craft and isn’t afraid to investigate something new.
